Here are a few of our favorite towns:
The historic town of Asbury Park features one of the best beaches in the state, ranked sixth best beach according to New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches 2008. Along with endless sand, great surf and unlimited fun, you’ll find a revitalized Boardwalk that’s better than ever. Unique shops, eclectic restaurants with breathtaking views and the crown jewel—the restored Paramount Theater and Convention Hall.
When you ask what’s new at the Jersey Shore, the answer will most likely involve Long Branch. Always a popular spot for surf, sun and shore fun, the town, with its restaurants at Pier Village, has created a buzz all along the northern shore. Although it’s one of the ritziest spots at the beach, with Avenue (an upscale restaurant), Avenue Nuit nightclub and Le Club beach club, there’s plenty to do even if you don’t have deep pockets.
During the summer, there are free weekly outdoor concerts and movies under the stars, and year 'round historic sites, parks, shops and restaurants that offer something for every interest. One special spot is Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, named for the U.S. presidents who vacationed here. (Comprising 38 acres, it offers sand, swimming, fishing, boating, volleyball and a beachside boardwalk.)
Point Pleasant Beach
Point Pleasant Beach is great for kids of all ages (including those kids at heart). The expansive beach is kept crystal clean, and the Boardwalk has more than two dozen rides along with games of chance and some of the most competitive miniature golf at the beach. All of the required indulgences are offered along the mile-long Boardwalk, including waffles and ice cream, sausage and peppers, popcorn and cotton candy. There are numerous other dining opportunities, from on-the-go to full-service dining.
